Passion and the Promoter
I've been fortunate to meet many, highly successful, business operators. They have always intrigued me. Some, I've gotten to know well. Of others, I am more a fan. Their accomplishments fascinate me. I try to figure out what it is that makes them different from 99.9 percent of entrepreneurs? And what do these super achievers have in common?
There is one trait that I've found to be universally present; passion. There is a great quote in Forbes by Chad Johnson, CEO and founder of our featured business this issue: Lady Jane's Haircuts for Men.
"My motto? "Nothing great in life is ever accomplished without enthusiasm." I pride myself on my passion for my company and the energy that I bring to our office everyday. If I'm excited, then I know it will be contagious. I really believe that's what separates someone from being OK to being at a level of greatness."
Johnson is a dynamic and unique promoter of Lady Jane's. His face and voice - and enthusiasm - are a big part of the Lady Jane's brand.
So, I started thinking about promoters. Who are the best? Well, historically, it has to be P.T. Barnum. Barnum never said, "there's a sucker born every minute", though he is often attributed. He did say this:
"Whatever you do, do it with all your might. Work at it, early and late, in season and out of season, no leaving a stone unturned, and never deferring of a single hour that which can be done just as well now."
Enjoy my recorded hangout with Chad Johnson. Barnum was the ultimate curator, and in his honor, we toured the awesome, American Sign Museum. There are tips on using several social media platforms, and much more.
